1. Who we are, and these terms

Vertex Revision is run by an independent sole trader established in the United Kingdom, trading as Vertex Revision. You can reach us at [email protected]. If you need our full registered trading details — to make a formal complaint, to exercise a legal right, or to serve a notice on us — email that address and we will provide them to you in writing.

These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of this website and service. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

Nothing in these terms removes or reduces your rights as a consumer under the law of England and Wales. If any part of these terms conflicts with those rights, your rights come first.

2. What Vertex Revision is — and what it is not

Vertex Revision is an independent revision aid for candidates preparing for Part 1 of the Overseas Registration Examination. It provides practice questions, mock papers, flashcards, notes and study tools.

We are not connected with the General Dental Council. Vertex Revision is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by or associated with the General Dental Council, or any body that sets, administers or accredits the Overseas Registration Examination. Where we refer to the examination, we do so only to describe what our material is for.

We cannot and do not guarantee any examination result. Nothing on this site is a promise, prediction or assurance that you will pass. Whether you pass depends on many things outside our control.

Our content is study material, not professional or clinical advice. It must not be relied on for the treatment or care of any patient, and it is not a substitute for the official syllabus, official guidance, or your own professional judgement. Always check the current official requirements yourself — guidance changes, and ours may lag behind it.

Our questions and materials are written by us as practice material. They are not past examination papers and are not reproductions of real examination questions. We work to keep our content accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is free from error or omission, and you should treat it as one revision resource among several.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The service is aimed at qualified dentists preparing for registration in the United Kingdom, but anyone over 18 may use it.

You may use the service from anywhere, provided doing so is lawful where you are. It is your responsibility to check that.

4. Your account

An account is personal to you. Please keep your password confidential and do not let anyone else use your account.
Give us an email address you can actually receive mail at — we use it to confirm your address and to let you reset your password.
Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
We may apply fair-use limits to how much content an account can be served in a day, and we may limit the number of devices or concurrent sessions an account can use. These exist to keep the service available and to prevent bulk copying, and we may adjust them.
You can close your account at any time. Use Delete account on your home screen, or email [email protected] from the account’s own email address if you would rather we did it. There is no charge and you do not have to give a reason. See our privacy policy for what deletion removes and what we must keep.

5. What you may do with our content

Everything in the service — the questions, explanations, mock papers, flashcards, notes, design, text, graphics and software — belongs to us or to our licensors, and is protected by copyright and other rights.

While your account is active, we give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the content for your own private study only. You may make notes for yourself and take a reasonable number of screenshots for your own revision.

6. What you may not do

You must not:

copy, download, scrape, harvest or otherwise systematically extract our questions, explanations or other content, whether by hand or using any automated means;
use any robot, spider, scraper, script, headless browser or other automated system to access the service, except a search engine obeying our published rules;
share, sell, publish, upload, distribute or make our content available to anyone else, including in study groups, shared drives, messaging groups, forums or other courses;
share your account, sell access to it, or use one account for more than one person;
use our content to build, train or improve any competing product, dataset or machine learning model;
attempt to bypass our fair-use limits, security measures, paywall or bot protection, or probe or test the security of the service without our written permission;
attempt to access another user’s account or data;
interfere with the service or place an unreasonable load on it;
remove or obscure any copyright notice, or misrepresent our content as your own.

Why this section is firm. The question bank is the business. It took a long time to write, it is what people pay for, and if it is copied and passed around there is no service left to run. We monitor for bulk extraction and we will enforce this section.

7. Availability and changes

We want the service to be available whenever you need it, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance, and we rely on third-party providers whose own outages will affect us.

We improve and change the service regularly. We may add, alter or remove features.

8. Payment

The service is currently free to use and we cannot take payment. There are no paid plans, no subscriptions and no card details are collected anywhere on this site.

When paid plans open, this section will be replaced with full payment, cancellation and refund terms — including your statutory right to change your mind — and the date at the top of this page will change. That will happen before any payment can be taken, not afterwards. Payment will be handled by Stripe, so we will never receive or store your card number.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms — in particular section 6 — or where we must do so by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.

You can stop using the service, or close your account, at any time.

10. Our responsibility to you

If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill.

We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way for:

death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
any matter for which it would be unlawful to exclude or limit our liability, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that:

We are not responsible for the outcome of your examination, or for any consequence of not passing it.
We are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity.
Because the service is currently free, and you have therefore paid us nothing, we do not accept liability for financial loss — but the exclusions above still apply, and a liability cap tied to what you have paid will be set out here when paid plans open.
We are not responsible for content on websites we link to.

Please keep your own record of anything you would be upset to lose. We take care with your data, but this is a revision service and not a backup service.

11. Your data

How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of your agreement with us. It also explains what is stored on your device and how to change your choice about analytics — see cookies and similar storage.

Anything you enter into the service remains yours. You give us permission to store and process it so we can provide the service to you. Please do not enter information about real patients, or anyone else’s personal data.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change materially affects you — particularly once you are on a paid plan — we will give you reasonable notice, and you may close your account if you do not accept it. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law, and complaints

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in your own country’s courts, and nothing here removes the protection of any mandatory consumer law that applies where you live.
